Actor Ezra Miller has been very busy making headlines. The 26-year-old actor has been hard at work promoting his new film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and in the process, he let the public know that he identifies as non-binary (though he told GQ he’s “comfortable with all the pronouns”). Now, Miller is showing the world exactly what he meant.
In a new cover shoot for Playboy, Miller served up looks as a gender-fluid Playboy bunny, rocking heels, silky nightgowns, suit jackets and makeup. The new photos come just days after Miller captured fans’ attention with his Hedwig-inspired look at the Fantastic Beasts premiere. Fans of the star took to Twitter to praise Miller’s new photo shoot — not only for its representation, but also for their stunning looks.
In his Playboy interview, Miller talked about polyamorous relationships, saying he’s more interested in finding many partners with whom he has a spiritual connection rather than focusing on one. “I’m trying to find queer beings who understand me as a queer being off the bat, who I make almost a familial connection with, and I feel like I’m married to them 25 lifetimes ago from the moment we meet,” he said. “And then they are in the squad — the polycule” — or “polyamorous molecule.”
The star also discussed concerns among Harry Potter fans that the new Fantastic Beasts film would not mention Professor Dumbledore’s sexuality, saying that he trusts J.K. Rowling. “Knowing that Jo, with that brilliant mind for the ambiguity of people — morally, in terms of how we classify them on a spectrum from good to evil — I knew that she would be interested in exploring,” he said.
In talking about the controversial casting of Johnny Depp as the film’s titular antagonist, though, Miller remained mainly diplomatic. “Look, I bring forth my work to this job, and I do the best that I can,” he said, talking about working on set with Depp, who was accused by ex-wife Amber Heard of domestic assault. “I would say that literally every single aspect of my reality, inclusive of a lot of things that are not fine with me, are fine with me. It’s amazing how far the banner of all good can extend.”
