‘Drag Race’ Season 11 Queens Meet ‘The Prom’ Broadway Cast: See the Photo

The queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11 sashayed onto The Great White Way and attended one of the season’s newest Broadway musicals, The Prom Wednesday night (Feb. 20). After the show, the queens were taken backstage for an exclusive meet and greet with the cast. 

Ohio-based queen Nina West posted a handful of group shots on Instagram and wrote a heartfelt post about what the show meant to her. “I wasn’t lucky enough to go to prom with the guy of my dreams when I was in high school,” she wrote. “But it is amazing that there are kids brave enough to push all of us to evolve, just by dancing with the girl or guy of their dreams.”

The Prom was written by Chad Beguelin, Bob Martin, and Matthew Sklar. The musical centers around a girl named Emma living in a small Indiana town, whose high school prom is after she’s prohibited from bringing her girlfriend, Alyssa, to the event. After hearing the news, a group of Broadway actors rush to Emma’s hometown in order to help remedy the situation.

Season 11 of RuPaul’s Drag Race will premiere Thursday, February 28 on VH1, with Miley Cyrus as the guest judge.

Ya know. Last night was pretty remarkable. Thank you to the insanely talented cast of @theprommusical for having the cast of @rupaulsdragrace as your guests last night. I was living my full on Broadway fantasy, especially with the likes of Broadway legends of @christopher_sieber @bethleavel @brooksashmanskas @angieschworer Michael Potts, and the insane talents of @caitlin.kinnunen @izzymccalla who just captured my heart, broke it, and made it sing at the end. This show is really wonderful. A musical comedy through and through that captures the joy and pain of the coming out story that is so central to many of our lives. I wasn’t lucky enough to go to prom with the guy of my dreams when I was in high school, but it is amazing that there are kids brave enough to push all of us to evolve, just by dancing with the girl or guy of their dreams. And it’s wonderful that there is a musical about it now so i can sing about it! Truly remarkably fun. Go see this show. Laugh, cry, jump out of your seat and cheer for the underdogs! Hell, go to a Broadway show and fall in love with theatre. It saved my life and changed it forever.
