When Christina Aguilera dropped her feminist-themed empowerment anthem “Fall in Line” with Demi Lovato last week, fans everywhere lost their minds. The song’s fiery lyrics about refusing to be told what to do spoke volumes to the two pop stars’ audiences, and was only amplified by the duo’s headline-making performance at the Billboard Music Awards on May 20.
Now, the two have made their message perfectly clear with the video for the track. The clip shows Aguilera and Demi as captives of an oppressive, male-dominated prison facility. When enough has been enough, the two fight their way out of the bunker in order to finally make it above ground and to freedom.
Upon the video’s arrival, Twitter was flooded with messages of support from fans, along with in-depth analysis of the video’s meaning. Some fans even went as far as to say that the video was a representation on both Aguilera and Lovato’s treatment while they famously worked with Disney.
