RuPaul’s Drag Race royalty Chad Michaels stopped to chat with Billboard Pride’s Patrick Crowley during RuPaul’s DragCon Los Angeles, discussing her upcoming film project, what she loves most about DragCon and more.
Speaking of the forthcoming film she will be appearing in, titled Maybe This Time, Michaels says: “It is about a drag queen’s search for love in New York City. I’m not playing the lead, I’m actually playing a Cher impersonator — can you imagine? What a stretch, right?
“But it should be fun,” she continues, “and the lead in it is Mel England and he’s a really cool character actor and he’s gonna be playing another celebrity, but I don’t wanna give it away, but you guys can check it out on Facebook.”
Asked what her favorite part of DragCon is, the All Stars winner says that it’s the people. “I would do this for free because there’s no price that you can put on the way these people come up to you and talk to you and they’re so happy and it just makes you feel so good that something that you do makes other people happy and makes their lives better,” she shares. “I’m here for the people.”
