At 18 years old, it would stand to reason that pop singer Carlie Hanson may not know much about love. But listening to her discography, you find that the young up-and-comer has a firm grasp on the realities of relationships.
Hanson once again demonstrated this wise-beyond-her-years mentality with her new track “Back in My Arms.” The song, a pure-pop slow jam saturated with trap beats and instantly catchy melodies, shows Hanson in a vulnerable state as she looks back on the days of puppy love in her relationship. “Feel you on my body when you’re gone/ We go back to the start when you’re back in my arms,” she sings on the track’s chorus.
The rising singer then released a new video for the song on Friday (May 3). The visual follows Hanson as she lives with an older, shadier man. As the story unfolds, Hanson is shown driving around in speeding cars and living in a trailer. She then takes control of her situation by robbing an armored truck when her benefactor is detained by police, revealing her character as one of a family of burglars.
Hanson has been slowly releasing new songs for the past two years, all gearing up to her debut EP Junk due out June 7. In February of this year, the singer officially signed a deal with Warner Bros. Records.
