Boy George is ready to give you a taste of who’s onboard for his new biopic — and one of the names may surprise you.
In a clip posted to Instagram on Tuesday, George announced that his forthcoming biopic focusing on his life and the rise of Culture Club, Karma Chameleon, will officially start filming “in London and around the world” this summer. As part of his announcement, the singer also decided to drop a few names of the actors taking part in the film.
“Already on board, Danny Mays, one of my favorite actors, [will be] playing my father,” George said of the 1917 actor, before teasing that an even bigger name may be appearing in the film. “And there’s rumors of Keanu Reeves popping in … ooh, name-drop!”
However, George quickly made clear that Reeves will not be starring in the film — in fact, he said that they have yet to find the right actor to portray himself. “There’s only one problem, and it’s quite major — who’s going to play me?” he asked. “We’re looking for a brave young actor, from anywhere on the globe, to take on the role of his life. And it will be brilliant. I want to be impressed!”
Karma Chameleon is set to focus on Boy George’s early life and his rise to fame as the frontman of new wave pop group Culture Club, alongside bandmates Jon Moss, Roy Hay, and Mikey Craig. The film will be written and directed by Sacha Gervasi and produced by Millennium Media.
