When I was growing up in the Pentecostal church I was told that I would never be blessed. I carried that with me for years knowing deep down in my heart and soul that couldn’t be real. I felt a calling on my life, a ministry if you will. A life of service. But how can one be of in an industry that’s inherently narcissistic? How can one minister to others when they are broken themselves.
It’s because of you, the LGBTQ community who lifted me up when no one else could find the grace. Every time I felt like I didn’t matter, some stranger would appear out of thin air to thank me for the work I was trying to do. Thank me for the person I was trying to be. You all have given me strength to stand tall in my truth and know that my living has not and never will be in vain. I am forever grateful. Here’s to the resistance!
