On Wednesday (Feb. 5), GLAAD announced that Ben Platt will join the 31st annual GLAAD Media Awards as a guest performer. The Tony Award winner will take the stage during the New York ceremony to give a special musical performance, while also representing his Netflix show The Politician, which is nominated for a GLAAD award.
Platt will join a stunning cast of previously announced guests: Writer and producer Ryan Murphy will be in attendance to receive the organization’s Vito Russo Award, while Judith Light will accept the Excellence in Media Award. Late-night host Lilly Singh will serve as the evening’s host, and special guests Jaboukie Young-White, the cast of FX’s Pose, and Schitt’s Creek’s Emily Hampshire will also attend.
The announcement comes just after Platt received another honor. On Monday, Harvard University’s famous Hasty Pudding theater troupe named Platt their 2020 Man of the Year, making the star the youngest ever recipient of the award.
The 31st annual GLAAD Media Awards will take place Thursday, March 19, at the Hilton Midtown in New York. Get your tickets to the ceremony here.
