Music icon Aretha Franklin passed away Thursday (Aug. 16) at her home in Detroit. She was 76 years old.
Through her impressive career — which included 46 charting albums on the Billboard 200 — the Queen of Soul left a legacy. Her catalog was peppered with several LGBTQ anthems, including her 1967 Hot 100 chart-topper “Respect,” her feminist collaboration with “Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves,” and, of course, her duet with George Michael, “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me).”
Check out some of the tributes from queer musicians and celebrities below.

The loss of @ArethaFranklin is a blow for everybody who loves real music: Music from the heart, the soul and the Church. Her voice was unique, her piano playing underrated – she was one of my favourite pianists. pic.twitter.com/ug5oZYywAz
