Pop singer Anne-Marie came into the public eye over the last few years as a friend and collaborator of renowned DJ and producer Marshmello, not to mention her turn on Clean Bandit’s “Rockabye.”
The singer from London released her debut album Speak Your Mind, featuring collaborators like Marshmello, Ed Sheeran, Clean Bandit and more on Friday (April 27). On one of her new songs, “Perfect,” the British singer gets personal, singing about issues like body positivity and beauty standards to show that being different is the new normal. With one particular line — “And I’ll love who I want to love, ’cause this love is gender-free” — Anne-Marie implies that gender isn’t important to her when it comes to dating.
Now, Anne-Marie has confirmed that she does, in fact, date both men and women, because she has always felt attracted to multiple genders. “I’ve never ever just been attracted to men. I’ve never just been attracted to women,” she told The Line of Best Fit.
The singer was quick to add that she doesn’t necessarily ascribe to a specific label, despite the fact that she may be labeled by others. “I’ve never felt the need to tell anyone that I’m bisexual,” she said. “I don’t feel like I am. I just feel like I’m attracted to who I like. I honestly feel like everyone is like that.”
