Katrina Lenk and the cast of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, The Band’s Visit, paid a visit to The Tonight Show on Monday night (Feb. 4) to perform a captivating rendition of “Omar Sharif.”
Wearing a blue velvet jumpsuit, the glamorous Lenk took center stage as she performed a scaled-down version of the hauntingly entrancing “Sharif” — emotionally delivering the spotlight solo from Dina, the character she portrayed in the critically acclaimed Broadway musical.
“Friday evening, Omar Sharif/ In black and white and blurry through tears/ My mother and I would sit there in a trance/ He was cool to the marrow, the pharaoh of romance,” sang Lenk in a Israeli accent.
Since its opening in 2017, the musical — based on an Israeli film by the same name — and cast has received various awards. They are currently nominated for a Grammy for best musical theater album.
