It’s beginning to look a lot like Weezymas. On Tuesday (Dec. 22) Lil Wayne and Mack Maine announced that they were teaming with Phase III Bodyshop for a toy, coat and blanket drive in New Orleans’ Hollygrove neighborhood.
“On behalf of @youngmoney, myself and my bro @mackmaine4president have partnered with @phase3bodyshop to do our part to ensure that the children of Hollygrove and surrounding areas have a Merry Christmas no matter their circumstances at home this year,” read an Instagram post from Weezy. “I know 2020 has been a rough year for most but I’m praying tomorrow will at least put a smile on the faces of some of the local youth in New Orleans. Please make sure you pull up tomorrow!”
The giveaway is slated to take place on Wednesday (Dec. 23) from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Wayne is clearly in a giving mood, even though just days ago, on Dec. 20, he lamented that it felt like the Recording Academy appeared not to be, as he noted that his work was noticeably absent from the 2021 Grammy nominations list.
“As an artist, when I see da Grammys coming up & I’m not involved nor invited; I wonder. Is it me, my musik, or just another technicality?” he tweeted. “I look around w respect & wonder competitively am I not worthy?! Then I look around & see 5 Grammys looking bak at me & I go to the studio.”
See his announcement below for more information about the giveaway.
I know 2020 has been a rough year for most. So on behalf of Young Money Records, myself and my bro @mackmaine have partnered with local businesses to ensure that the children of Hollygrove and surrounding areas still get all they need and want! Happy Holidays! 🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/VARYUHTZMO
