Mark Hamill presented the emotional “In Memoriam” tribute on Sunday night’s Tony Awards (June 11), paying homage to “legends of the stage, artists behind the stage, princes of show business and a princess.” Hamill is best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, which lost its Princess Leia, played by Carrie Fisher, last December.
With a soulful performance of Boyz II Men‘s “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye,” a quintet of this season’s Broadway stars — which included American Idol alum Justin Guarini and former Hamilton star Okieriete Onaodowan — saluted late producers and actors including Mary Tyler Moore, Debbie Reynolds, Gene Wilder, and the aforementioned Fisher.
The Tony Awards were hosted by actor Kevin Spacey.
