On Wednesday (Sept. 13), EA Sports revealed its soundtrack for FIFA 18. The game — scheduled for an official launch on Sept. 29 — will feature 40 tracks spanning from megastar Lorde to Run The Jewels and almost everything, from all around the world, in between.
The game’s cover features Cristiano Ronaldo, who is a global icon and boasts as Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer (and was also dubbed the most famous athlete in the world by ESPN in May). So, it’s only right that EA get global with the accompanying soundtrack.
The soundtrack features artists from 11 different countries: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Guernsey, Ireland, New Zealand, Portugal, Puerto Rico, the U.K. and the United States.
Lorde’s “Supercut,” which was released in June along with album Melodrama, alongside “Dangerous” by The xx, “Feels Like Summer” by Weezer, “Live In The Moment” by Portugal. The Man and “Dagombas en Tamale” by Puerto Rican rapper Residente. Major hitters on the FIFA 17 soundtrack were Beck, Kasabian, Aloe Blacc, Kygo, Zedd and Bastille. Artists such as Beck last year and Run the Jewels this year have debuted tracks through FIFA.
In addition to the soundtrack, music and soccer intersect for FIFA through exclusively designed artist FUT kits by Glass Animals, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Bloc Party, Capital Cities, Saint Motel, Zhu and Lemaitre, as reported by NME.
The most appropriately titled song on the soundtrack is, of course, “The Beautiful Game” by RAC featuring St. Lucia.
