The Pose actor strutted into the Staples Center on Sunday evening wearing a head-to-toe sparkly blue catsuit and bolero cropped jacket made by famed Los Angeles designer Scott Studentberg’s brand, Baja East, complete with silver rhinestone fringe around the calves.
The outfit was (literally) topped off with a wide-brimmed hat made of the same material as his catsuit and a curtain of similar rhinestone fringe that surrounded his face, shielding what was quite possibly the best part of his ensemble: his stunning makeup look.
Porter’s metallic blue eyeshadow — which matched his getup, of course — extended into the inner corner of his eye and out into a thick cateye, and was framed by a thin metallic silver lining. Following the ceremony, his makeup artist Christine Nelli breaks down to Billboard how exactly to recreate his full beat, including every product she used on him for the carpet.
To prep the skin and eye area, Nelli used the Glamglow Eyeboost Reviving Eye Mask, which is a sheet mask packed with hyaluronic acid, algae, and mushroom that frames the eyes and instantly adds lift and brightness to the skin. She created his “Cleopatra-like cateye” with the baby blue eyeshadow from Smashbox’s Cover Shot Eye Palette in Bold Glitter, and outlined it in the silver eyeshadow from Smashbox’s Cover Shot Eye Palette in Denim “to make the eye pop.”

On the face, she used the Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 to mattify the skin and even out Porter’s skin tone, then strategically placed Swarovski crystals in the inner and outer corners of his eyes, as well as one final one as a beauty mark.
Finally, she mixed the silver shadow in with Smashbox’s Mindful 5 Nourishing Lip Oil to create the metallic frosty lip color. The Smashbox Photo Finish Setting Spray helped lock the whole look in place.
Editor’s Note: Nelli partnered with Smashbox for this red carpet, and the brand provided her with product to use on her clients.
