Christmas songs make for great sing-alongs as they are, but when they involve two people, they can really get the party going. Whether you’re at a Christmas party, family gathering or driving to grandma’s, put on these duets and try not to sing along with whoever you’re with.
“White Christmas,” Michael Buble & Shania Twain
It’s hard to deny that Buble’s modern-day-Sinatra croon is made for Christmas music, which means that every song he’s recorded for his holiday EP and LP are flawless. But when he teamed up with the country superstar for a jazzed-up version of this classic, beautiful Christmasy magic happened.
“Winter Wonderland/Don’t Worry Be Happy,” Pentatonix feat. Tori Kelly
Putting a reggae twist on the already cheery song, Pentatonix and Kelly’s voices mesh so well together that this tune could bring a smile to your face even if there’s no snow on the ground.
“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” Christina Aguilera & Brian McKnight
Aguilera didn’t include the R&B singer on her album version of this track on her My Kind of Christmas LP, but after hearing this version — on TRL, no less — we almost wish he would’ve been.
“Peace On Earth/The Little Drummer Boy,” Bing Crosby and David Bowie
A little mash-up action before mash-ups even really existed, the two legendary singers teamed up to make two rather slow holiday tracks into one pretty special masterpiece.
“The Christmas Song,” Nat King Cole/Natalie Cole
You can’t get much more classic for Christmas than Nat King Cole. Although this is a dubbed duet, hearing him sing “Merry Christmas to you” with his daughter is almost magical.
“Fa La La,” Justin Bieber with Boys II Men
Even if you’re not a Belieber, the “Sorry” singer deserves some kudos for the original holiday tracks he crafted for his Christmas album Under the Mistletoe. That’s especially true for this sing-songy R&B tune (almost even more so for its a cappella version).
“All I Want For Christmas Is You,” Mariah Carey, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots
Yes, Carey is primarily the only one singing in this version of her poppy Christmas classic (well, other than the children that occasionally pop up for some harmonies), but the Roots’ additions of classroom instruments is just too good to not include it in the bunch. And c’mon, you can’t have a list of great Christmas songs without this one.
“Baby It’s Cold Outside,” Vanessa Williams and Bobby Caldwell
While Dean Martin’s version is about as classic as they come, we had to commend Williams for her trumpet-based jazzy version of a song that otherwise typically sounds the same no matter who is singing it.
“Silent Night,” Kelly Clarkson, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood
What do you get when you put three stunning voices together on one angelic song? Here’s the answer:
“What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?,” Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Deschanel’s sultry vocals combined with Levitt’s soothing tone — along with a ukulele and acoustic guitar — bring out the flirty side of the song’s lyrics without overdoing it.
“Happy Xmas (War Is Over),” Peter Hollens, Jackie Evancho
This may not be the most well-known version of this song, but the overlapping vocals? (and Hollens and Evancho’s great voices) make it a memorable one.
