Weezer is back with a new album, Everything Will be Alright In The End, that arrives four years after the prolific alt-rock mainstay’s last effort. Before taking the stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Saturday night (Sept. 20), frontman Rivers Cuomo and bassist Scott Shriner says that Weezer never stopped moving in those four years, and eventually came up with the musical statement they wanted to make.
“It’s complex and heavy, but not too metal,” says Cuomo of the new album, due out Oct. 7. “We wanted to make a very deep album, an album that would be a classic, and that all our fans and us could grow old with. And we knew it would take some time, so we just said we’re gonna spend these few years and do what it takes to achieve our goal.”
