As day faded into night, the air grew chilly on Randall’s Island for the final performances of Governors Ball — but that didn’t stop the audience from rocking out to The Black Keys during their headlining set.
The rockers from Akron, OH played everything from older classics to picks from their latest album Turn Blue.

The Keys’ frontman Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney energized the crowd, beginning with “Dead and Gone” and finishing with “Lonely Boy,'” and “Little Black Submarine” — all tracks off their seventh studio album, El Camino.
But there was plenty in between, including another Camino track — “Gold on the Ceiling,” “Fever” from Turn Blue, “Next Girl,” and “Howling For You” — both from Brothers.
Colored lights flashed, and contrasting images were projected across the big screens flanking the stage at the festival as Carney dominated his drum kit and Auerbach whaled away on guitar.
And while those in attendance watching were captivated by the bluesy rock riffs, according to others across the island hoping to hear Lana Del Rey, sounds from the Keys drowned out her low key ballads.
But the band closed out their fantastic set with everyone singing along to “Submarine,” ending Governors Ball on a high note, slightly before 11PM. (And just in time for another Akron-born superstar — LeBron James — to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first ever win in the NBA finals — tying the Golden State Warriors at one game a piece.)
