Patti Smith, Pharrell Williams, Deadmau5, Suede and Lionel Richie will play this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
The near-complete line-up for the annual English fest has finally been revealed, and it also includes slots for Motorhead, Mary J Blige, the Chemical Brothers, Courtney Barnett and many others.
Glastonbury will run June 24-28 and will again be held at Michael Eavis’ Worthy Farm in Somerset, south west England. There’s one glaring gap in the lineup; Eavis and his team has teased a “special guest” for the third and final Pyramid Stage headline slot.
Petition to Pull Kanye West from Glastonbury Hits 90,000, Author Admits He’s Never Been There
Organizers had already confirmed Foo Fighters, Kanye West and Florence + The Machine to the 2015 bill. Singer Florence Welch will need to see a good podiatrist and put her feet up for the next couple of months. The singer has just revealed she broke her right foot while jumping off the stage at Coachella. Click here to see the 2015 Glastonbury line-up.
Glastonbury is the brainchild of dairy farmer Michael Eavis. The first Glastonbury concert took place back in 1970 with Marc Bolan on the bill. Eavis splashed out free milk for the 1,500 ticket-holders (entry was £1). Now, the event is one of the largest greenfield festivals in the world, attended by more than 177,000 each year and raising millions of pounds for charities.
The Foo Fighters to Headline Glastonbury Festival
The fest won’t happen in 2017. Eavis typically takes a “fallow year” twice a decade to allow his farm to regenerate. Tickets for Glastonbury 2015 sold out in record time, many months before any of the acts were announced.
