Alex Lahey, Taylor Bennett, Santigold, Judah and the Lion, Denzel Curry, Lauren Daigle, Tierra Whack, PJ Morton, Better Oblivion Community Center and Toro y Moi will also join the more than 75 artists playing the 12th edition of the festival.
As announced last Friday (March 22), Paul Simon will return for a special one-off performance as one of the festival’s headliners. Simon has previously stated his commitment to perform only the occasional concert and always in benefit of philanthropic organizations he supports. Simon will donate the entire net proceeds from his performance to local environmental non-profit organization to be announced at a later date.
This year, Outside Lands will once again feature Grass Lands, a curated area focused on cannabis. Also returning will be The Barbary offering some of the world’s most loved and respected comedians and podcasts, along with the D.A.V.E. series (Discussions About Virtually Everything), which opens and expands festivalgoers minds on issues affecting them and their community.
In 2018, the festival increased their waste diversion rate to an impressive 92 percent and also went “plastic straw free,” donated 1.25 tons of food and introduced more reusable beer mugs and wine glasses. In addition to Outside Lands having the highest waste diversion rate of any music festival in the U.S. according to a festival release, it also features a number of dedicated programs entirely focused on sustainability and environmental education.
