Looks like Lollapalooza won’t be the only festival hitting Chicago this summer. Throwing its hat into the crowded ring of multi-day live music events, Nickelodeon announces their own two-day musical event, aptly titled SlimeFest.
Liam Payne, Flo Rida, Zedd and the network’s bow-embellished ambassador JoJo Siwa are top-lining the fest, which will run June 9 and 10 at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island. Tickets go on sale March 6 at 11 a.m. ET.
With a focus on kids and families, SlimeFest will feature plenty of Nickelodeon talent. Along with Siwa, who co-hosts the network’s Lip Sync Battle Shorties, Kel Mitchell and Benjamin Flores Jr. (Game Shakers), Riele Downs and Ella Anderson (Henry Danger), and Breanna Yde (School of Rock) will take the stage. The event, which is in partnership with Live Nation, also promises immersive experiences and oodles of signature green slime.
Although this is SlimeFest’s first rodeo in the U.S., the festival has drawn big crowds in global markets including Australia, Italy, Spain and the UK since its inception in 2012. This year’s U.K. SlimeFest will take place at The Arena at Blackpool Pleasure Beach from Oct. 20 through Oct. 22.
“I can’t wait to perform for all my fans at SlimeFest,” Siwa tells Billboard. “I had a blast last year at SlimefFest in the UK and look forward to giving my US fans the same fun time.”
News of the U.S. incarnation of SlimeFest comes on the eve of Nickelodeon’s Upfront event. The network will woo advertisers tomorrow night (March 6) at New York’s Palace Theater, where SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical is currently running.
