The Misfits are back and surprising rock fans with a headlining appearance at Aftershock 2021. On Friday (May 7), festival producer Danny Wimmer Presents announced that the original lineup for the Misfits will headline Saturday night of the Sacramento, Calif., festival.
The Misfits lineup will include Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only with Doyle, Dave Lombardo and Acey Slade. Aftershock will be their first show together since December 2019.
My Chemical Romance was originally set to take top billing for the festival, but the group postponed all of their 2021 dates back in April. The original Misfits will fill in while Metallica closes out both the Friday and Sunday nights of the four-day event.
Producers also announced a handful of newly booked acts for the festival that will take place from Oct. 7 to 10 at Discovery Park. Dropkick Murphys, In This Moment, Anti-Flag, August Burns Red, Black Map, Blame My Youth, All Good Things, Tempt, and OXYMORRONS will all join the lineup. They will be in addition to previously announced acts such as Limp Bizkit, Rancid, The Offspring, Machine Gun Kelly, Social Distortion, Rise Against, Pennywise and more.
The news of the Misfits comes after the festival sold out its 2021 edition (passes are still available on resale site, Vivid Seats here). Fans who purchased singe day tickets for Saturday should expect an email for their pass options.
