When Machine Gun Kelly runs out of ammo, it’s a big problem. The hip-hop artist visited Las Vegas for a performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, where he joined Puff Daddy on the big stage. But there was a moment when his team feared Sin City had swallowed him up.
A sleep-deprived MGK chatted to Billboard about how his casual attitude caused him to miss a rehearsal. “Everyone thought I was dead this morning. They had the hotel manager looking for me,” he admits. And where was he? “In a hallway in a stripclub or something,” he laughs. “First day of school s—.”
The Cleveland rapper will need all the energy he can muster in the coming months. Kelly’s second album, General Admission, is about to drop. General Admission, due Oct. 16, is the follow-up to MGK’s debut album, Lace Up, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in October 2012.
“I’m proud of it from the artwork, the cover… through to the live musicianship on the album,” he says, noting he played guitar on some of the works. His new album represents “entries to my life, really painting the full canvas, rather than just giving people an outline and trying to let them fill it in. I just divulged everything.”
