Billboard is excited to exclusively announce the lineup for the second annual Louis Armstrong‘s Wonderful World Festival, hosted by Queens College’s Kupferberg Center for the Arts in the borough’s Flushing Meadows Corona Park (just a few blocks from Armstrong’s longtime home on 107th St.) on June 20.
This year’s festival, which is ticketed but free, will feature performances by Lauryn Hill, Antibalas, Ozomatli, Rebirth Brass Band and the Shannon Powell Traditional All-Star Band. Additionally, there will be DJ sets in the nearby Queens Museum “recreating the memorable garden parties that Louis hosted for his friends and neighbors,” according to the press release.
“We’re excited to bring Ms. Lauryn Hill to headline,” says Jeffrey Rosenstock, executive director of Kupferberg Center. “The first major music festival to plant its flag in [New York]’s most diverse borough [Queens]” is designed to “celebrate Louis’ vision of listening to ‘all kinds of music.’”
The event is all ages and takes place from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets for the entire day are free, and are available now online here.
