Each year we look forward to returning, and with this year’s lineup, we couldn’t be more excited. Here are 10 reasons Firefly 2017 is a can’t-miss festival. Tickets for Firefly are on sale now at FireflyFestival.com, with general admission packages starting at $289. Camping packages are also available.
Whether he’s crooning a harrowing ode to late night erotic escapades or delivering a chart-topping, pop-leaning gem, the Weeknd is a magnetic live performer with a of hit singles to dole out.
Whether you’re a longtime supporter or just curious, Kesha is the real deal on stage, with a full-bodied voice that tells a story every time she opens her mouth. Apart from delivering rocked-up versions of her pop hits, Kesha frequently covers Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop and Lesley Gore, and she makes each song sound like it was meant for her.
Not only is he a living legend, but he just won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Aside from his deep catalog of poetic songs, Dylan still brings it on stage, with his live band giving his Nobel-honored lyrics a bluesy rock punch.
Twenty One Pilots
Of all the bands producing chart smashes these days, Twenty One Pilots are undoubtedly the best live act. The genre-blurring duo captivate and command the stage with their dynamic energy and impressive musical chops, proving that a two-piece band can create a stadium-filling fury just fine on their own.
Chance the Rapper
Coloring Book was one of the best albums of 2016, and Chance brings the same life-affirming joy to the stage that he delivers on SoundCloud.
Thirty Seconds to Mars
How many other acts at Firefly feature an Oscar winning actor? How many other musical acts on earth feature an Oscar winning actor, for that matter? Exactly.
If you haven’t seen the Australian DJ/producer live yet, it’s time to remedy that. He’s one of the cleverest producers working in his genre, and he easily whips the crowd into a frenzy with every music festival he plays.
The Gorgeous Locale
Music aside, a truly sublime festival takes place in a unique, memorable environment. Firefly is one of those majestic fests, nestled amid the verdant greenery of the Dover, Delaware forests.
While the festival itself takes place amid the Delaware forests, The Thicket is an especially immersive nature experience. It’s not a stage in a field surrounded by a forest — it’s a stage in the actual forest, featuring both smaller bands and major acts delivering surprise acoustic sets. Truly one of the coolest things you can do at any Stateside festival.
Whether you’re staying at the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino while attending Firefly or just popping in for a visit, the nearby casino is an awesome bonus excursion if you need a break from forest green and want to see some dollar green.
