Dick clark productions and SiriusXM will tune-in to the 2016 American Music Awards through a new partnership.
Both parties will create exclusive radio programming around the AMAs and, for the first time, SiriusXM will devote a fulltime channel to the artist of the year winner.
One of those five artists will enjoy an extended victory lap. The victor will be invited to create and curate their branded SiriusXM channel, which will have a limited run in 2017.
And in another development, the SiriusXM Hits 1 channel will go behind-the-scenes at rehearsals on the AMAs’ Red Carpet and backstage for interviews with stars of the show. SiriusXM has also committed to AMAs updates and recaps across various channels.
"We are thrilled to bring the excitement of the American Music Awards to millions of music fans across SiriusXM's channels by providing listeners with unique content and behind the scenes access to the world's biggest fan-voted award show for the first time," commented Mike Mahan, president, dick clark productions, in a statement.
"We are excited to join forces with the American Music Awards to present the winner of this year's Artist of the Year with their very own SiriusXM channel,” added Steve Blatter, senior VP and GM, music programming, SiriusXM. “Our artist-hosted channels have proven to be a hit with SiriusXM subscribers and provide a totally unique platform for extraordinary artists to connect with their fans in an extraordinary way."
The AMAs is set to broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 20 at 8 pm ET on ABC . The nominations for the fan-voted awards show are led by Drake (with a record 13 nods), Rihanna (seven) and Adele and Justin Bieber (five).
The 2016 American Music Awards show is executive produced by Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan, with Larry Klein, Barry Adelman and Mark Bracco serving as producers.
