With a managing résumé that has included Lady Gaga, Lindsey Stirling, Meghan Trainor and John Legend, Troy Carter has plenty of experience navigating the waters of the music industry, but this Friday, he will dive headfirst into the Shark Tank. In his words, he's ready to “have some fun.”
In this exclusive preview of Friday's episode (ABC, 9 p.m. ET), Carter listens to the proposal of a team pitching a product called Nerdwax, “the original glasses wax.” Carter offers a loan of $80,000 but with the stipulation that he wants to recoup $120,000 -- a move that impresses Shark Tank veterans Kevin O’Leary and Mark Cuban, who dubs Carter “Kevin Junior.”
The 42-year-old Pennsylvania native and founder of the Atom Factory is set to launch tech accelerator SMASHD Labs this fall. In addition to his music industry experience, he has a business portfolio that includes holdings in Uber, Spotify, DropBox and Warby Parker.
Carter is the latest in a season of guest Sharks, including Ashton Kutcher.
