Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit

Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit

Danny Clinch

Rock, wry humor and cutting stage banter will abound on the road with Jason Isbell and Father John Misty this summer, as the artists have just announced that the're co-headlining a tour together.

Kicking off in San Diego on June 6, Isbell and his band, the 400 Unit -- which includes country singer/songwriter Amanda Shires on fiddle -- and Father John Misty will lap the country over the course of three weeks, with Jade Bird and Erin Rae supporting for select shows.

The tour comes after a lucrative year for both artists -- and a song that had one writing about the other. "Mr. Tillman," a track off his 2018 album God's Favorite Customer, had Father John Misty running into Isbell at a hotel. (Isbell had a good sense of humor about it, clearly.) God's Favorite Customer peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard 200, and Isbell won two Grammys at the 2018 awards (one for best American album for 2017's The Nashville Sound and another for best American roots song for its single, "If We Were Vampires").
