When Coachella rolls around this April, couch-bound fans will have double the chances to watch, thanks to an expanded partnership between the festival and YouTube. In addition to live-streaming the first weekend, YouTube will for the first time cover weekend two as well, offering a curated lineup of performances, artist vignettes and behind the scenes videos at the Indio, Calif. festival.
In addition to being exclusive livestream partner for a ninth year, YouTube is now the official playlist partner for the festival, meaning it will handle playlist integration on Coachella's website and app. Additionally, YouTube Music and YouTube Premium subscribers in the U.S. will have exclusive access to a dedicated allocation of passes for purchase for each weekend, when tix go on sale Friday, Jan. 4.
YouTube said members will receive access codes via email just before tix go on sale that can be used to purchase passes from a YouTube Music member cart, available while supplies last.
Festival voyeurs have a stacked lineup to look forward to on April 12-14 and April 19-21, including headliners Childish Gambino, Tame Impala and Arian Grand, as well as topline artists Janell Monae, the 1975, Solange, Ki Cudi, Khalid and Zedd, among others (see below).
Coachella is entering its 20th anniversary this year, after it was founded in 1999. (The festival was not held in 2000, so this technically marks its 19th iteration.) Last last year's event hosted more than 150 artists, including headliners Beyonce, The Weeknd and Eminem.
