After the Flood: Hurricane Sandy's Impact on the Music Business

"12.12.12" is a collaborative effort between Clear Channel Media, the Madison Square Garden Company and the Weinstein Company, which similarly came together for "The Concert for New York City" in the wake of 9/11. The upcoming concert will receive a telecast, but details have yet to be announced.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which is providing money and materials to tri-state organizations helping those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Ticket information will be announced in the coming days.

Along with artists like Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Dave Matthews Band individually donating large sums toward Sandy relief efforts, a slew of artists came together days after the storm for the "Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together" broadcast on NBC. Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Christina Aguilera and Mary J. Blige were among the musical artists that performed during the Nov. 2 benefit show.

Another Sandy musical event, dubbed the "Occupy Sandy Benefit Concert," is scheduled for this Saturday (Nov. 17) in Brooklyn Heights. Indie-rock artists like Vampire Weekend, Real Estate, Devendra Banhart and members of the Dirty Projectors are slated to perform.
