Paul Calabretta, a longtime sales executive who divided his career between Sony and BMG, died of cancer in Dix Hills, N.Y. on July 18. He was 47.

Calabretta began his career at CBS in 1983 and stayed with the company through its Sony Music days before switching to BMG Distribution in 1993.

Over the next decade he worked his way up to senior director of national sales at the company. When BMG merged with Sony, he eventually become VP of sales and media for Sony BMG U.S. Sales.

Calabretta is survived by his wife Karen and sons Jamie and Anthony.
