The 2019 A2IM Libera Awards will move to the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York after selling out tables early at the PlayStation Theater for its June 20 event. The event will take place at the culmination of the 10th anniversary of A2IM’s Indie Week, running June 17-20, with this year marking the biggest yet.
Nominations for the award show will be released next month, with tickets and tables going on sale to the general public beginning March 5 at a2im.org. According to a spokesperson, table sales at the event have increased dramatically every year for the past three years.
“As we prepare for this year’s Libera Awards, we are excited and humbled by the growth of the independent music community and A2IM as a whole," said Richard James Burgess, A2IM president and CEO, in a statement. "Moving to a larger venue will accommodate the growing demand for tickets and, as the biggest and best Libera Awards ceremony ever, will be a fitting celebration to conclude the 10th anniversary."
Last year's A2IM Indie Week and Libera Awards committed to gender parity across all sectors of the events, promising at least 50 percent of all positions during the week would be held by women on all levels of employment, including performers, presenters, all crews, speakers, panelists, janitorial staff, security and so on. This year, the events will again follow those guidelines. As well, this year, A2IM has instituted a new policy where all positions will be paid, promising equal wages for men and women. Often events of this scale will depend, at least partially, on the efforts of volunteers.
A2IM claims more than 600 label members, marking the highest number since its inception.
