Rostrum Records, the L.A.-by-way-of-Pittsburgh label that unearthed Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller, announced today it signed a partnership with Capitol-owned indie distributor Caroline. The new deal comes as Rostrum unveils three new additions to its artist roster: singer Mike Taylor, electro-pop trio Bråves and rising West Coast MC Juliann Alexander.

The moves are the latest shift for the 13-year-old independent label, founded by Benjy Grinberg in 2003, as it expands a roster that includes The Bird and the Bee, Mod Sun, TeamMate and Vali. (Khalifa, still signed to Rostrum via Atlantic Records, is suing the label for his release; Grinberg's response can be found here.)

Rostrum becomes the latest label to partner with Caroline following the appointment of Piero Giramonti and Jacqueline Saturn as co-general managers in December. Photo Finish Records and the Fader label have also come aboard in recent months.

"We are very excited to be working with Piero, Jacqueline, Matt [Sawin, svp of marketing and commercial development] and the entire Caroline family," Grinberg said in a statement. "They are continuing to build an amazing team and we're looking forward to launching our new artists and growing our label with them."

Rostrum just released the lead single from Mod Sun's upcoming sophomore album, "We Do This Shit" featuring DeJ Loaf, while Taylor has seen chart success lending a vocal to AfroJack's "Summerthing" and with his own single "Body High." As part of the announcement, Rostrum also unveiled a new recording studio inside their Hollywood headquarters.

“Our new partnership between Rostrum and Caroline is an exciting new opportunity for us to work closely with Benjy Grinberg and his incredible team," Saturn said. "The Rostrum label has an artist roster that is heavy with creative, dynamic and engaging new artists such as Mike Taylor, Mod Sun and TeamMate. I look forward to rolling our collective sleeves up and breaking these artists, and more, into the musical marketplace."

Added Giramonti: "We have been fans of the label for quite some time, including the past success that they have had with Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa. We are now very much looking forward to being partners in their next chapter, with their very exciting stable of new artists."
