James Steven has been promoted to executive vice president of communications and marketing at Warner Music Group. In his new role, effective immediately, Steven will lead WMG's worldwide communications and corporate marketing functions, dealing with investors, social responsibility and special events, plus he'll oversee internal comms within the label group.
Steven is based at the company's NYC headquarters and will continue to report to WMG CEO Steve Cooper. "Communications plays an essential role in presenting WMG's mission to the world at large, and in connecting and unifying our people across the globe," Cooper said. "Hard-working and resourceful, James and his team are doing a fantastic job, and I congratulate him on this well-deserved promotion."
Steven has been a member of WMG's communications team since 2007, when he worked out of the London office. He became svp of communication and marketing in 2012. Prio to WMG, he held various roles in the public relations and marketing fields.
