The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) will honor Sara Bareilles at its 25th Annual Pop Music Awards on April 9. Bareilles will be given the association's Vanguard Award and will perform during the awards ceremony.

The ASCAP Vanguard Award is given in recognition of the impact of musical genres that help shape the future of American music. Previous honorees include The All-American Rejects, The Arcade Fire, Beck and Jack Johnson.

As previously reported, ASCAP will also honor Lionel Richie and Steve Miller at the event.

The ASCAP Pop Music Awards are part of the association's "I Create Music" week and will take place at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
