Ben Walter, a former senior marketing executive with Extreme Music, has joined Ricall as the online music licensing marketplace's business development executive.

Based in London, Walter is tasked with helping raise the company's international profile through a series of strategic marketing initiatives, and developing its relationships with its copyright-owner partners and key commercial music user accounts.

"Ben has key industry contacts in Ricall's target markets as well as proven expertise in the music licensing field," comments Richard Corbett, founder and CEO of Ricall, in a statement.

"Ben's experience will be a great asset for us as we expand into an increasing number of key markets globally and continue to partner with a wide variety of major companies that benefit significantly from using our music search and licensing platform," adds Corbett, to whom Walter reports.

Walter is on board after a three-year stint with Extreme Music, where he worked on synch licensing for major broadcast and advertising campaigns including Guinness, Sprite and 3 Mobile.

Previously, he was founder founder clubs editor for the now-defunct industry dance publication Sleazenation.

Launched in 1998, Ricall claims to be the world's largest online music licensing marketplace, containing a library of more than three million tracks from 25,000 copyright owners.

The firm announced a licensing deal with EMI in February, and has an existing agreement with Sony BMG.
