The International Confederation of Music Publishers (ICMP) has appointed Ger Hatton to the role of secretary general. Hatton assumed the position April 7, and reports to the board of ICMP, which is now based in Brussels.

Long-time ICMP general counsel Jenny Vacher, a partner in the Paris-based law offices of A&J Vacher Desvernais Roederer Monod Watson, continues to serve as general counsel to the ICMP.

"This enlargement of our structure is the result of an internal strategic review set up by the Board at its Stockholm meeting last June," comments ICMP president Nicolas Galibert in a statement. "It recognizes that the growth and complexity of ICMP's relationships requires that we now have a full-time individual devoted to the important tasks at hand."

Hatton has worked in strategic issues management for the World Bank Group and the European Commission. Her CV includes 10 years as a director with Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide in Brussels, and in 1996, she assisted the IFPI with the launch of the European Platinum Awards.

"We are very proud to have on board an individual of Ms. Hatton's exceptional background and expertise to focus on services to our member organizations and on international legislative and strategic relationships," comments ICMP chairman Kjell-Åke Hamrén.
