BMI has appointed Simon Aldridge as senior executive, writer/publisher relations, Europe.

Aldridge will be based in the U.S. performing right society’s London office. He will be responsible for sourcing new songwriters and publishers from Europe, as well as generating creative opportunities for writers and publishers who license their work through BMI in the U.S. and U.S.-based writers working in Europe.

Aldridge will report to Brandon Bakshi, executive director, writer/publisher relations, Europe and Asia.

"Simon was a natural choice for BMI with his background in music publishing and A&R,” said Bakshi in a statement. “His experience in the creative process will be a huge asset for our songwriters, composers and music publishers, and he will play an integral part in our continued outreach to the European songwriter community."

Aldridge's career includes roles including head of A&R for Sony/ATV Music Publishing and ZTT Records/Perfect Songs. He has also worked for Windswept Music Publishing, as well as Columbia Records, and signed artists including Seal, Gabrielle, Mark Morrison and All Saints.
