The Bicycle Music Company has acquired a majority interest in Raul Malo’s
Rumbalo music catalog, which includes hits recorded by The Mavericks and Malo’s solo performing and songwriting career. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The catalog includes: The Mavericks' "Dance The Night Away" and the BMI award-winning "All You Ever Do Is Bring Me Down," as well as songs recorded by Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart, Rick Trevino, KT Oslin, BR549, Engelbert Humperdinck, and Flaco Jimenez, the company said in a statement.

Malo’s work with The Mavericks produced 14 singles on the Billboard charts.

The agreement also includes Malo’s interest in his forthcoming solo album, which is due on Concord Records in the spring of 2009.

"Raul’s great legacy of songs is built upon his unique ability to write and
blend styles and genres, from country to Latin to rock and rockabilly to
jazz -- an ability that is only paralleled by his incredible voice," Bicycle
co-president Jake Wisely said in a statement. "Raul is an artist’s artist
whose songs transcend genre, era and territory more than any other
Nashville songwriter.”
