The Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff songwriting team will receive the Icon Award at the 57th annual BMI Pop Awards, to be held May 19 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.

The duo composed and produced for the O'Jays, Lou Rawls, Jerry Butler, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Dusty Springfield, Wilson Pickett and many more.

During their career, the duo has accumulated 22 gold and eight platinum albums, and were the recipients of 86 BMI Pop and R&B Awards, according to the press release on the event. "Love Train" has earned three million performances, while "When Will I See You Again" and "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" have both generated more than 4 million performances, and "If You Don't Know Me By Now" has amassed more than seven million BMI performances, BMI reports. Gamble & Huff are also members of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame, and recipients of the Recording Academy's prestigious trustees award.

At the event, the organization will award its pop song of the year, songwriter of the year, publisher of the year, college song of the year, and Internet song of the year, as well as the presentation of the John Lennon Scholarship winner.
