Publishing Briefs: HFA Inks Deal With BFM, Imagem Signs Hesta Prynn And more

HFA Inks New Deal With BFM Digital
-- The Harry Fox Agency has reached an agreement to provide technology-driven rights management solutions to independent music distributor BFM Digital. In addition to clearing songs, which HFA has been doing for BFM since 2006, the new deal will see the licensing agency supply the indie aggregator with a fully transparent back-office solution for broader rights administration and management.

Imagem Music Signs Hesta Prynn
-- Imagem Music has signed Hesta Prynn (aka Julie Potash) to a worldwide, multi-year co-publishing deal. The former MC from indie hip-hop group Northern State has released an EP and two 7-inch singles.

"Hesta embodies what it means to be a progressive artist," Imagem Music USA president Richard Stumpf said in a statement. "She continually pushes creative boundaries and, to me, that's the essence of exciting art."

ASCAP Deems Taylor Awards Set For Nov. 15
-- ASCAP will honor the winners of the 43rd Annual ASCAP Deems Taylor Awards at a special invitation-only ceremony, to be held Nov. 15 at the organizatin's New York offices.

Among those being honored are Alex Vlack and Damani Baker, who directed "Still Bill," a documentary on Bill Withers; Prof. R. Larry Todd, who won Nicolas Slonimsky Award for outstanding musical biography for his book on "Fanny Hensel: The Other Mendelssohn;" and Will Friedwald for his book "A Biographical Guide to the Great Jazz and Pop Singers."
