Phil McIntyre is out as president of Roc Nation Management after less than a year at the helm of the division, sources tell Billboard. The decision was announced at a meeting last week, sources say, during which employees were told McIntyre was taking a step back to manage his own clients, including Nick Jonas and Adam Lambert.
McIntyre’s management company, Philymack, first partnered with Roc Nation in November 2015, when his management roster also included DNCE and Demi Lovato, among others. (McIntyre no longer manages Lovato, who is now represented by Lauren Einbinder.) He was named president of Roc Nation Management in April 2018, overseeing a client roster that includes Rihanna, J. Cole and DJ Khaled, among others.
McIntyre, who also served as an executive producer on American Idol, was named to Billboard’s Power 100 in January of last year, shortly after bringing new management clients Iggy Azalea and The Band Perry into his fold and before officially taking the Roc Nation post. A rep for Roc Nation did not comment; reps for McIntyre did not return a request for comment.
