Spotify has hired former Vevo exec Tom Connaughton to serve as head of artist & label marketing for the U.K.

Connaughton’s new role was revealed in an internal memo sent by Spotify’s head of creator services, Troy Carter, and first reported by MBW. A company rep confirmed the hiring with Billboard, adding that Connaughton's first day will be April 9.

The British-born exec joins Spotify after seven years with Vevo, including the last two working as senior VP of creative content & programming. In that role, he had responsibility for artist and label relationships across the U.S., U.K. and eleven different international markets and was based in New York.

Connaughton, who joins the streaming music giant just ahead of its April 3 debut on the New York Stock Exchange, will relocate to London and report to Carter.
