-- In extending its worldwide deal with singer songwriter Gary Barlow, Sony/ATV Music Publishing will now represent his entire song catalogue for the first time.
In addition to future songs and the songs he has written during the decade long relationship Sony/ATV, the agreement also covers his early songs such as Take That songs like “Back For Good”, “Never Forget” and “Pray” and his initial solo hits, including “Forever Love”.
"Gary Barlow is a one-man phenomenon and rightly hailed as one of the greatest ever British songwriters," Sony/ATV UK managing director and president of European creative Guy Moot said. "The songs he has written for Take That have thrilled several generations and contain countless classics, but that is only one part of his incredible story as he also has a flourishing solo career, has written for numerous other artists and now has a successful musical on Broadway.”
Barlow is the co-writer with Eliot Kennedy of Finding Neverland, which opened in March.
“I’ve had an amazing journey over this past decade since first signing with Sony/ATV," Barlow said in a statement. "Sony/ATV have been hugely supportive along the way and I'm excited that they will now be looking after my entire song catalogue for the first time.”
In addition to writing for his own career, Barlow has also written with or for other acts including Lily Allen, Dame Shirley Bassey, Agnetha Fältskog, Olly Murs, Will Young and band colleague Robbie Williams.
-- In other Sony/ATV Music Publishing news, Selector Songs, the joint venture it created last year with Chainsmokers manager Adam Alpert have just announced one of their first signings, the U.K. pop trio, Life Of Dillon, which was also the first act signed to Alpert's record label Disruptor Records.
One of the band, Rob Griffith already had a publishing deal with Sony/ATV in the U.K. So with this latest deal, David Keiffer and Joe Griffith are now signed with the company. The threesome will be joining Meghan Trainor on the forthcoming The M Train Tour, which starts on July 3 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
-- Spirit Music Group has acquired a portion of the publishing catalog of top Nashville songwriter and producer, Jason Ingram. While terms of the deal were not disclosed, it includes such copyrights as Chris Tomlin's "White Flag" and "I Will Follow"; Hillsong's "Forever Reign"; and Building 429's "Where I Belong." It also includes Ingram's share of songs he wrote under the Showdown/Sony joint venture.
"We are pleased to add these songs to the Spirit Music Group family," Spirit Music Group chairman David Renzer said in a statement. "With this latest acquisition, we further extend our reach into the thriving Nashville market." In July of last year, Spirit Music Group acquired Cal IV Entertainment, marking's Spirit's first official presence on Music Row. Spirit also recently acquired the publishing assets of West Main Music, which included such Christian Worship songs and Christian Contemporary hits, "Forever Reign, originally a by the collective One Sonic Society and Hillsong which has gone on to be covered by several artists; "Never Once," co-written by Jason Ingram and recorded by Matt Redman; and "Help Me Find It" co-written by Jason Ingram and recorded by The Sidewalk Prophets.
-- Warner/Chappell Music has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with songwriter, producer and recording artist, Uzo Emenike, AKA MNEK, who has co-written for artists such as Madonna, Rudimental and Duke Dumont, among others.
"Warner/Chappell is home to some of my favourite songwriters of all time," MNEK said in a statement. "I am so happy to be a part of such an esteemed group, and excited about this next phase of my career."
MNEK's work includes co-writing Oliver Heldens x Becky Hill's No. 1 hit "Gecko (Overdrive);" Gorgon City's "Ready For Your Love;" Karen Harding's "Say Something," and the Saturdays' "All Fired Up."
"MNEK is a phenomenal talent who has co-written some incredible songs for both established superstars and emerging names," Warner/Chappell Music North America president Jon Platt said in a statement. "All of us at Warner/Chappell are thrilled to team up with such a promising songwriter, producer and artist. He has a bright future and we're going to help him take his music to a wider audience."
MNEK's other writing credits include work with Chris Malinchak, Bondax, Blonde, JoJo, Tieks, Naughty Boy, Sub Focus, Clean Bandit, Little Mix, and remixing for Duran Duran, Olly Murs, Bastille and Tinie Tempah. As for his own work, MNEK's EP Small Talk is out now, and he is currently at work on his full-length debut album.

-- Atlas Music Publishing has signed new artists Alex Winston to an exclusive global music publishing deal. In the autumn, Winston will release a new album on 300 Entertainment, Lyor Cohen's label. The album will feature such producers as Ariel Rechtshaid (Vampire Weekend, Plain White T’s) and Catherine Marks (PJ Harvey, Foals, The Killers).

Originally from Detroit, Winston is now based in New York City. In addition to a warm reception from both critics and fans, her music has also proven to be a favorite among music supervisors. Her single "Choice Notes" was featured in both a European ad for the Hyundai ix20 as well as a TJ Maxx spot, and her song "Velvet Elvis" was used in an ad for Google Chrome. Winston has toured extensively across the US and Europe, supporting acts such as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Gotye, among others. She has multiple US tour dates scheduled with Neon Trees throughout the summer.
-- Round Hill Music has signed a publishing administration deal with funk band, Lettuce, whose music is often used in MSG Broadcasts of New York Knicks game, according to the announcement. The deal comes on the heels of a joint-venture created between Round Hill Music and the Feel Music Group, helmed by Eric Krasno, a member of Lettuce.
In a statement, Krasno said of the signing, "We are incredibly excited to be working with Round Hill Music, a company whose love for music is at its core, and whose personalized creative attention will be the perfect partnership for Lettuce." The band plans to recorded a new full-length album this fall.
In another move, Round Hill Music have signed on to represent BoomBox, the electronic duo of Russ Randolph and Zion Rock, for synchronization deals. Last year, the duo released "Filling In the Color, its first studio album in four years.
"Boombox is what I like to call an “eJam band”, an electronic jam band," says Round Hill Music senior VP of A&R and label services Jonnie Davis. "I believe that we can capture their brand of light and illuminate the synch world with a fresh yet retro sound."
