Back in early 2013, Billboard flagged Venezuelan singer/songwriter Oscarcito as a face-to-watch based on catchy tunes that were gaining chart traction both in his home country and here. Oscarcito’s performance of his own “Tu eres Perfecta” (You’re Perfect) reached No. 1 in Venezuela while “Si Tu Me Besas” (If You Kiss Me), a track he wrote for salsa star Victor Manuelle, went to No. 1 on Billboard’s Tropical Airplay charts.
That success led to his being noticed by Sony ATV Latin Music publishing, which last year signed him to a publishing deal. Now, Oscarcito has also signed on as an artist with Sony Music Latin. The label will release him in the U.S., Mexico, Central America, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Puerto Rico and will license his albums in Venezuela. The 360 deal is for multiple albums and encompasses non-traditional recording revenue.
Aside from his radio hits, Oscarcito comes to Sony with other assets, including sponsorship deals with McDonalds and Venezuelan soft drink company Martín Polar in the Andean region (Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru).
Oscarcito is currently in the studio working on his Sony debut with a broad range of producers that includes Gocho, Maffio, Mottiff and Chris Jerdy.
