Sandy Monteiro moves up the ranks as senior VP, Universal Music South East Asia, overseeing the company's operations in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Monteiro continues in his current post as managing director, Universal Music Malaysia, based in Kuala Lumpur. He also retains his role as VP, digital, Universal Music South East Asia, excluding China, which he has held since June 2006.

"Sandy has contributed significantly to our business in South East Asia, particularly in the digital arena," comments Max Hole, president, Asia Pacific Region, Universal Music Group International, to whom he reports.

"He is a music man, a great manager capable of motivating his people, with proven skills, knowledge, and an ability to think strategically. This unique combination of talents makes Sandy ideally suited for this new post."

The heads of Universal Music affiliates in Australia, China, Hong Kong,
India, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, South Korea and Taiwan continue to report to Hole.

Monteiro believes the music industry has reached a new intersection with the road ahead offering fresh prospects and opportunities.

"The business has changed, and we're well poised to face the new challenge," says Monteiro. "The digital business will play an increasingly critical role in shaping the industry. I'm grateful for this vote of confidence and the chance to work for the world's greatest music company where music is still the first priority."

Prior to joining Universal Music as managing director in 2002, Monteiro held posts at Warner Music, MCA, Recording Industry Association of Malaysia in Malaysia, and Singapore-based Soundbuzz.
