The European Digital Media Association (EDiMA) has a new president.

Andrew Cecil, currently head of public policy at Yahoo Europe, has been appointed president, with immediate effect.

At the same time, Paloma Castro, director public affairs at eBay Inc, has been named secretary and acting vice president of EDiMA.

Cecil and Castro will serve in their new roles for a term of 12 months.

In a statement issued today, EDiMA executive director Lucy Cronin said the development "demonstrates the sector's commitment to engage in the debate on the future of the new media sector and to European markets.

EDiMA is an alliance of new media and technology firms, whose membership includes Amazon, Apple, eBay and Google.
