Live Nation and Rogers Wireless have teamed up to offer Canadian concertgoers the opportunity to purchase tickets through their cell phones.

Through the newly launched Wireless Box Office initiative, Canadian music fans can search for upcoming Live Nation-promoted concerts on all Rogers handsets via a mobile Internet browser. After imputing a credit card number, concert tickets will be delivered as a text and multimedia message. The embedded barcode on the virtual ticket will then be scanned at venue doors prior to entry.

Additionally, Rogers Wireless Box Office ticket-holders will be given VIP access into the concert through a designated line. Customers will also have access to streaming clips from certain Live Nation concerts through their Rogers device.

As part of its new agreement with Live Nation, Rogers Wireless has agreed to sponsor an upcoming tour by Montreal-based punk act Simple plan. The mobile company will also sponsor 10 concerts at Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre and 50 concerts at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom.

Rogers Wireless has also partnering with MTV Canada to host music events at the Masonic Temple in Toronto.
