Tim Davie is the BBC's new director of audio and music.

The Corporation today unveiled Davie, its communications and marketing director, would succeed Jenny Abramsky, who recently split after nearly 40 years with the broadcaster to chair the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Davie will now oversee BBC Radios 1 through to 5, and the Corporation's digital-only networks, which include 1Xtra and 6 Music.

A former vice-president of marketing and franchise at PepsiCo Europe, Davie was appointed director of the BBC's marketing, communications and audiences division in April 2005.

Davie joined Procter and Gamble's marketing department straight Cambridge University, becoming a brand manager in 1991.
