Slipknot has cancelled its European dates for this month after drummer Joey Jordison broke his ankle. He has been advised to stay off his leg for four to six weeks to prevent further injury.

The band was due to play Reading and Leeds festivals this weekend ahead of the release of new album "All Hope Is Gone" (Roadrunner Records) on Aug. 25. Slipknot was also scheduled to play festivals in Germany and Austria.

"Cancelling shows is never an easy decision and we apologize to all our fans, friends and family for not being there to throw down with you," said Slipknot in a statement. "We will be back in Europe this November and can't wait to see you all then."

The band is still set to attend the Kerrang! Awards in London tonight (Aug.21). Their tour is due to resume in Japan in October.
